WAVE

Building the next wave of subsea talent

00

problem

The SubOptic Foundation needed to engage early-career professionals in the submarine cable industry. -Lack of accessible entry points for students and young engineers -Technical field often seen as niche and opaque -Regional events didn't support local languages or community focus -No consistent global platform tailored to emerging talent

solution

I led the creative direction for WAVE, a global symposium series that educates, inspires, and connects future subsea professionals. Strategic Foundation -Position WAVE as the entry point into the subsea ecosystem -Define audience segments: students, early-career engineers, academics, tech partners Visual & Messaging System -Introduce a clean, wave-inspired logo and visual system—evoking depth and connectivity -Create iconography, colour palette and imagery guidelines with a global and local balance -Craft messaging that speaks directly—highlighting opportunity, mentorship and career pathways Digital & Event Support -Design and build responsive event websites for WAVE UK, FR, JP, PT and more -Develop localised event pages with registration, speaker highlights and venue detail -Design social content, presentation decks and onsite signage

I shaped WAVE into a global platform that invites the next generation of subsea professionals. Every design and message was created to connect students and early-career talent with industry leaders and opportunity.

It began with defining purpose. WAVE needed to be the career gateway for subsea infrastructure. I crafted messaging to speak to students, apprentices, and young engineers—framing WAVE as a launchpad, not just an event.

Visually, I used waveforms and subtle gradients to hint at cables and depth. The identity had to feel global yet adaptable to each region’s language and audience.

For each event—London, Paris, Cairo, Tokyo. I built localised websites and marketing collateral. I created presentation templates, speaker profiles and social assets that were easy to update and localise quickly.

The event graphics carried consistency while celebrating each region's unique flavor. Every banner, deck and email reflected the global brand in a way that spoke directly to local communities.
